home at last!!

i can not believe i have been gone for over two weeks!! how great it is to be home. yes, my grandfather passed away on the 7th. quite unexpected. my grandmother is in a nursing home and my biological mother was estranged. but all is well now. i guess, as well as can be. i love dysfunction, don't you? lol

also, a little something that has been going on in my life, my ex had filed for custody. a logical reason my posts for the last month or so have been so blah. a little emotionless. well, we had court monday the 21st. WE WON!! my daughter is soooo relieved. the first thing she asked when i picked her up afterward was who had won. i didn't even think she knew we were headed to court. so perceptive. i wanted to cry when she smiled, sighed and said 'good'.

so i have two weeks with one child. what will i do? i know exactly what i will do. i am going to dump their toy boxes out and clear out all the junk. same with their dressers, and book shelves, and . . . you get the idea.

while i was gone my father got me a camera. well, he got it on his best buy card and i will have to make the payments. it's a bit too much camera for me. we will probably go tomorrow and see what i can do about that. their is a feature i do not like. not sure how to explain it. when taking a pic, the lcd does not show the view. you have to look through the view finder. we'll see what can be done about that. alright, well, i am exhausted. headed to find my pillow, ;) chit chat with you later.

time to get busy

i've been busy taking pics of the bandana dresses i've been making. decided to make matching hairbows. hair bows? hmm, . . . click on my flickr badge on the right. i think it will take you to my photo stream. (still figuring this whole virtual world out)

posted a new item on my etsy shop. not too exciting over there. working on it.
working on these keychain things. let me know what you think! i'm thinking about doing them in team colors or school colors. i just had an epiphany. lightning just struck my brain. SCHOOL FUNDRAISER ITEM!! my daughter's fourth grade class is trying to raise money to help with a big field trip this next spring. ok, i gotta go email the teacher. hee hee

whirlwind weekend

aaaah, yes, that's me sighing relief. we are all home. no one is sick. the girls are in bed asleep and i am headed that way. feels good.
baby is walking everywhere so i haven't a lot of time to sit and blog. they grow so fast. :( sniff. too too fast.

i am alive

i know, few actually care, but here i am. what a week!! it is only thursday, well, i guess the week is almost finished. to start with i have had a sick baby. that is nothing new for any of us, i'm sure, but when that baby has a seizure, that is pretty new and scary. and scared i was. i have never really been scared for my children before. they have fallen and busted their lips, fallen on concrete (thanks to daddies letting them fall off tables while camping) but i've taken it all with stride. but when your 12 month old child laying listless in your arms proceeds to jerk, a sense of helplessness comes over you. i don't care who you are. and so here i am, 3 days later to tell you that my child has an ear infection. yes, that's right, a simple ear infection caused her to have a seizure. well, the sudden rise in fever caused the seizure, but non the less. . . she is doing much better now. no fever for 24 hours.

a lot more has been happening in my life, but i will not bore you with the details. ok, so you maybe would not be bored, but i will not, WILL NOT, use you as my sounding board. lol

i have been busy making bandanna dresses. having lots of fun. hopefully i can get a business started and take care of mine.

so, until tomorrow, sleep well, and i hope you have all have a nice day with family.

am i an idiot?

i have been looking for a new sewing machine. can't really afford one, but wanted one non the less. well, i thought it may be worth it to take mine in and get it looked at. so i started researching my problem and found a site, forget now, that had a list of possible solutions. she called it the 10 minute something or another. (i feel really bad that i can't link you to her site) so anyway, i did the 10 minute something or another. i changed the needle, re threaded with the presser foot UP and started sewing. i have made three dresses and practiced a hem. all with no skipped stitches!!! i am relieved. excited!! as i write this i wish there was more material to sew!! well, you know what this means. I CAN JOIN THE SCARF ALONG!!! i just need to get my materials. hee hee hee

what i learned this week is . . .

  • i have become the parent i always promised myself i would not become
  • my big girls love each other sooo much
  • the baby adores her big sisters
  • sometimes it's good not to know where certain family members are
  • i DON'T trust putting my children's' names on the internet
  • my 5 year old is getting too big to be falling asleep in strange places; restaurant booths, the bathtub, my lap, just to name a few

I MADE A SALE!!!

i am so excited! so it's just for empty baby food jars, but it's a sale. now we'll see if i messed up with shipping. i did last week on ebay, lesson learned.

i've got about 20 key chains to get posted on my shop. and a friend is making some baby burp cloths. getting it started!!

going to eat lunch with the girls at school today. they are looking forward to that. the kids love seeing the baby. wow, i just typed her name! i need more coffee!

nothing new

nothing new to report. how boring my life has become. just sent in my fafsa application. we'll see. now i just need to decide what to take. have a few ideas, just want to make sure that i chose something that will be worth it, allow me to support my little family and something i will enjoy in the long run. decisions decisions.

may have found a sewing machine!!! so excited. not anything fancy. found it on craigslist. it's the brother that my local target has but it's about 15 bucks cheaper, still in the box. we'll see if she replies to my email.

got a few key chains and barrettes made. can't decide if i should add an iron on monogram or not. trying to get enough made that i can put them up in a local sale fair type thing in jan, or feb. not sure when. eek! better get busy non the less.

so how many have checked out the scarf a long? i hope i can get this sewing machine in time so i can catch up. looks fun.

a little hello

well, three persons voted, one being me. someone changed their vote. don't know who that was. hmm? appletini, huh? we'll see what she can do. thank you for all who participated. we'll see what my sister has in store for you. she's still perfecting her wick technique, and when that is finished, she should be up and running.
hope you all have a great weekend, and you will hear from me soon.

what i learned this week is . . .

  • i love my children to death, but the week before my cycle is not the best week for school to be out for inclement weather
  • one momma + one pre-teen (is 9 pre-teen these days?) means we need a larger water heater. 30 minutes? really?
  • even when my children are sick, they should not sleep with me. i am too old to break that habit AGAIN!
  • my one year old has an insatiable appetite
  • i will never have enough money saved for a sewing machine. i should just go out and buy it!
  • my ex-husbands mother had it right all along. the mess will be there after they are grown and gone.

well . . . another down . . .

. . . one more tomorrow

we did not get pizza made tonight. by the time we got back from the store it was too late to start the sauce and raise the dough . . . so we will do it tomorrow. the girls are excited. ME TOO!!

cabin fever

hurricane ida turned tropical storm ida turned rain storm has schools closed monday and tuesday. nice. that makes for a 5 day weekend. 5 day!! and i am enjoying every bit of it. except i have had sick kids. my kids don't get sick!! but when one does, the other does and the other does. i am glad they didn't miss school, but what a way to spend time out of school!!

we are all down each other's throats, and we need a nice sunny DRY day. i think we will head to the store and get stuff to make pizzas. i'm excited!! we have enough time to make our dough from scratch even. let you know how it turns out.

$100 and no idea what to get

if you had one hundred dollars to spend on a sewing machine, what would you buy? i'm new to sewing and am looking for an easy to use simple machine to learn on. i'd like to be able to sew things well enough to sell though. i'd like to sew bandanna dresses, pillow case dresses, pant sets, simple dresses, baby quilts, applique, and perhaps some light corduroy. any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
i've been looking at the ones at target, but i'm not sure of the quality. i've looked on overstock.com and found these refurbished ones, but not sure about a refurbished machine. i need something that is going to last a while. i don't need 50+ stitch options. what would i do with that?

what i learned this week is . . .

  • i don't have to be at school everyday of every week to be a good mom
  • we have too much stuff (did i learn that a few weeks ago?)
  • time change is HARD on the little ones
  • being a single mom takes work and determination
  • there IS a frustrating of plans where there is no confidential talk
  • i need to get off my butt, get out my glue gun and ribbon, and GET TO WORK!!

the best laid out plans . . .

today is friday, was friday. i suppose the day is nearly over now. anyway, my friend and i had plans to go out for a big girl night. you know, no kids? no high-chair, no color crayons, no special 'dip dip' on the side. i can't remember the last time i did that. she had been invited to a wine tasting evening at a local sushi restaurant. i was sooooo looking forward it! i did my hair, put on my make-up like i cared, pulled out my boots. then the baby woke up with a fever. half her face was red. and she just wanted momma to hold her. and that was the end of our plans. so i whipped up some guacamole, made some tortilla chips, and we browsed the net instead. which was fun.
i also had planned a yard sale for tomorrow. i may still throw a few things out there if she seems to be doing better. i could start my own small children's consignment sale with all i have. i've saved things my first child wore when she was a toddler. after about 9 years of dragging it along with us everywhere, i've decided to let it go. i didn't keep it all for sentimental reasons, more for financial reasons. makes sense, except now i have no where to put it! my goal was to sell it all and make enough to get a good sewing machine. we'll see!

we had a winner!!

i was not aware! our giveaway with 'i'm with the band'
had a winner!!! and WOW!! what a pair! i knew she was working on something special, and these earings are awesome. i wouldn't mind having a pair of these. i don't have a pic, but will post soon!

we are still here

i've been getting ready for a yard sale we're having on saturday and my house looks like a cyclone hit it. it makes for crazy hectic mornings getting ready for school. we can't find anything and chances are the baby has taken things from the keep pile, and put it in the sale pile. or visa versa. it's times like this i wish 'clean house' came to the gulf coast for their shows.

my friend has launched a new gift idea. a 3 or 4 pack lotion gift 'can'. so cute you need to check it out. she's so creative. she comes up with new ideas everyday! just can't seem to have the time to do all of them.

my sister has decided to make soy candles with essential oils. i told her she needs to make them and sell them. we sahm need all we can get.

well, i need to get busy before the tyrant, uh i mean my beautiful adventerous daughter decides to awaken.

what i learned this week is . . .

  • if you are as old as you feel, then i have learned that i am very old
  • my brain only works half the time
  • there are so many opportunities out there, i just have to put my baby in daycare to take advantage of any of them
  • i can't put my baby in daycare
  • going to the doctor with a baby, alone, is not a good idea (duh)
  • i CAN resist the urge to eat the whole tub of ice cream behind my children's backs
  • i heart my children's school
  • my children's school hearts me

farmers market

burris farmers market on hwy 59 in loxley alabama

having more than one child in school sure does keep one busy. if it's not assemblies or lunches it's field trips. the last few weeks we have had our share. but wednesday and thursday were good trips. the whole school has taken turns walking the few blocks to our local farmers market. wednesday i went with the kindergartners and thursday was the fourth graders turn. the kids had a blast. the tour started with a look inside one of the large coolers where the kids smelled the onions being stored, they loved that. then the kindergartners took a walk through the back of the store where the pecan shellers were hard at work. then through the market where they learned a lot about different kinds of fruits and veggies, with a visit to the bakery for some ice cream with sprinkles. yum! .

paying for thier ice cream

heading back to class

no one got left out

4th grade class heading to the market
the fourth graders went from the cooler straight for the ice cream and then a lesson in fruits and veggies. the kids were so inquisitive. i was impressed at the way the ladies giving the tours adapted for each age group. they all did a fantastic job. everyone got a pumpkin. my kids want to make pumpkin pie with their's. now i need to figure out how to cut one of these opened.
here are a few pictures. it's so hard not to post all the pics, and i don't really know what the laws are on posting pics of other people's kids without permission, but i'm guessing it's a no no. so these pics are only of my kids on the trip

YUM

what is today?

is it thursday already? wow!! where does it go? between field trips and doctor's appointments, the week has flown by! well, my family has left. my house if empty now. as empty as it can be with three children. on the bright side, the baby is able to nap :). that's always a good thing.
well, i have an appt in an hour and another field trip this afternoon. so as i scarf down a bowl of cereal, i thought i would say hello.
i'm kind of sad that our giveaway did not go so well. but, she got some items listed on her etsy shop and made a sell. so that is good.
i need to get a new sewing machine and i will be able to get busy. hopefully.
well, i will write more later.

what i learned this week is . . .

  • alabama weather is just as crazy as arkansas's
  • my family is crazeeeee
  • i love my children more than love itself
  • 60 kindergartners, 15 fish tanks, 75 compasses = loads of fun
  • my family loves me
  • no one is hiring around here
  • i can not handle chaos (who knew?)
  • late nights take their toll

our contest has come to an end

well, it was a good try. i don't know what happened! really! maybe next time. maybe next year. who knows. well, she listed more items and made a sale non the less.

my family is visiting from new york, and my father has hijacked my computer. he needs if for work, searches, and netflix instant movies. so i have not been on for a few days and i have a lot of blogs to catch up on!!!
i've noticed we've only got one contestant for our giveaway. what's going on ladies? no one interested? let me know. i've got a few pairs of these earrings and i love them. good conversation starters. if they are not your style, they may make a nice gift for that rocker you know. Click here to enter!

so the weather has cooled a bit here in the deep south. of course today was 80*, nice!
i went on a field trip with my kindergartner. we went to a mini aquarium/planetarium. they had a blast!! i'm not sure how much of it they actually understood, but it was pretty awesome. the baby stayed with my mother and sister and obviously enjoyed herself. i know my mother did. well, dinner is not going to finish itself. mom has gone to get salad stuffs and the potatoes are waiting to me mashed. gotta run. will catch up soon.

Friday, October 16, 2009

what i learned this week is . . .

  • my sewing machine is a piece of crap

  • at 31 it's still hard to be myself around new people.

(i just saw a spider on a clock beside my computer. no joke)

  • i NEED to make time to sit and do nothing with my children

  • you can learn anything on ehow

(10 min later and i just remembered the spider)

  • my mom really misses her grand-babies, really

  • my girls are happy with their new life and all that comes with it

(i can't find the spider!)

am i alive?

i can not believe how tired i am. how would i feel if i had a job? i mean a paying job. i worked real hard last night and got the house nice and clean. put away all my laundry, vaccumed, mopped, had the kitchen spotless. this morning it was so nice getting up to a clean house. the girls were in school all day and the baby and i were out most of the day. yet as i sit here and look around, i wonder what happened. and where did all the energy i had last night go? do i want to put it all away now and enjoy the clean in the am? or do i want to rest and clean in the am? sigh, decisions decisions. i do lead a tough life. i wish that was the hardest thing. i made some popcorn, so i think i will clean and maybe sit and watch jane eyre finally!!! we'll see how i feel after cleaning.

in the spot light

here it is you guys. the moment you have all been waiting for. my friend, i'm with the band. that's right, jewelry to rock to. she is a talented young mother of one adorable 2 year old boy.

i was going to add a pic of myself wearing my favorite pair, but um, too scarey! so you will just have to go over there and check it out yourself.

these are awsome!! and she has decided to share the love. she is hosting her very first giveaway! are you excited yet? well you should be. she is working very hard on something very special for you gals. so stay tuned, and i will let you know when it is ready.

my first attempt at greatness

she loves it! i am so glad. she got a lot of compliments on it too. that's a good thing.

i forgot!!!

i'm a terrible blogger!! i had such a crazy week and busy weekend planned i completely forgot about 'what i learned this week is . . . " friday!!! i do hope no one came on friday expecting it. i do have a lot planned for this week and hopefully will catch up with my blogging.
we had an emotional weekend. maybe i'll explain all one day, or maybe i won't. but all in all it ended well with good friends and good fellowship. so tomorrow starts a new week. hope you all had a great weekend and are refreshed for the week coming up.
oh, i found my card reader!! right where i put it. you know, that perfect spot where i wouldn't lose it.

dress number 1

well, i did it. i made my first bandanna dress!! now i need to learn to sew a straight seam. it is so cute if i may say so myself. and when i find that darn card reader i will download some pics. that is so frustrating. wait, let me look somewhere quick. be right back. hmmm, no. but i found jane eyre!! and the wii, and a pair of socks. i guess i will have to go buy a new reader.

my shop is up!

ok, worked on my 'shop' a little tonight. posted a book, still need to find my card reader so i can post real pics of it. but still in the learning process of it all. worked on my banner a little. fun! check it out here. tell me what you think! i know maybe when i get more things listed it will be worth the trouble. ha ha

kick it into high gear, dummy

i'm unloading groceries today, figuring how much longer before the big girls get home from school and when that will be in relation to baby's nap. and i wonder, is this what my life has come down to? grocery shopping so i can cook, clean, fix snacks, clean, cook again, grocery shop again, . . . and i think to myself "i need a job". then lightning struck my brain. i'm wanting to continue being a stay at home mom, and i have these great ideas on how to be a working stay at home mom (wahm) AND HERE I AM LOOKING FOR A JOB!!! am i a moron? don't answer that. i have all the time to do these great and amazing things i want to do, why don't i do them? shame it took lightning striking my brain to realize this. now i just need to get the money to get the materials to do these things. we will just have to have a yard sale. it's about time. weather should be cooling off in a few months. just in time for me to get around to getting things ready for a sale. i jest. not about the weather, about me getting in gear. it was 95* today. -sigh- won't be too long though.

so i want to create custom finished scrapbooks. i love doing it, and i've seen it done on line. i wonder how well they do. even just pages, or kit baskets. we'll see. once i get it all loaded into my 'store' i'll send a link and you guys can tell me what you think. that's just one of my ideas. i still need to figure out how to use this sewing machine. a lot has been going on in my life lately, i haven't been on it in over a month. but soon. i mean, hello. it's not like i don't have anything else to do with my time.

meal for a manic monday

or tuesday, or wednesday, or . . . i think you get the idea. so we all have one. i thought i'd share ours. a family favorite. i'm not sure what it's called, we call it 'bean wraps'

ingredients:
can of black beans, rinsed and drained
one green bell pepper
1/4 purple onion (depending on taste)
1/2 cup of cilantro (depending on taste)
1/2 jalapeno (depending on taste)
2-3 tbsp mayonnaise (depending on taste)
juice of one lime
tortillas

directions:
mix the first 6 ingredients together
spoon into tortilla
wrap

as you can tell i'm not sure exactly how much of anything to use. ours turns out a little different each time. tonight i seasoned mine with cumin. yum! my oldest likes extra onion in hers, and my 5 year old likes no onions. lol. we added some fresh spinach tonight. and we didn't have any cilantro. i had to substitute lemon for lime, and well i think you understand. but the point is it's an easy peasy lemon squeezy dinner to make and every time i make them the girls give rave reviews.

what i learned this week is . . .

  • i can keep it pretty much together for my kids sake
  • i am easily replaced
  • filing motions, responding to petitions . . . better left to the lawyers
  • baby 'o' does not need to be rocked to sleep
  • i have aged a lot in 2 years, er, matured
  • it's hard putting it all behind
  • i am intimidated with the whole interview process
  • my family is pulling out all the stops for me

Thursday, October 1, 2009

alright! how exciting!! i know it's just a way to spread your name around but still a very cute idea. and i do have a few of my favorites. :D so here is the scoop . . .
The rules of the "One Lovely Blog Award" are:

Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award, and his or her blog link. Pass the award to 15 other blogs that you’ve newly discovered. Remember to contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award.

so i was awarded this very special and rare award by momma needs a hobby. i love reading her posts about life as a stay at home mom (sahm) with her two 'kidlets'

so, i'm still fairly new at this, but i will list the following blogs that i visit daily. and somehow find time to alert them of their win. ;)

bdc bath and body
eastern shore moms
bargain buggy
living on 4th street
a little loveliness
diary of a single mom

well, 6 isn't bad. let's you know you are special to me.

momma needs some new shoes

yes, that's right shoes. or maybe food. either way, i need a job. and so in the am i will be heading to an interview. my first in a very long time. i'm a little nervous. i remember my last interview. i was applying for secretary for a small cabinet door shop. worked there 2 years before becoming a sahm. and now, here i am, a few years later, one more kid and no man to support us. looser man. but that's besides the point. i will be stronger because of it. my daughters will grow to be awesome women, wives and mothers because of it. they will be independant, able to stand on their own feet if need be. willing to allow love in their hearts, to grow and nurture them, but not need it to survive.

how did i get off on that? that is not what this post is supposed to be about. i'm trying real hard not to get off on tangents. i can throw one heck of a pity party if i wanted to. but what's the point? i've heard that if you allowed other people and their actions to affect (effect?) the way you feel, then you are allowing yourself to become that persons slave. and i am no idiots slave. (had to throw that one in there) hee hee.

so, the point is, . . . i am going on a job interview and i am about scared out of my mind. i NEED a job. i have been a single stay at home mom with no income long enough. i hate being that woman sitting around waiting for the child support check. i felt a little justified in the fact that i had just birthed his child. but that was 10 months ago. i've just been procrastinating. now that the big girls are in school, it's time. i will let you know how it goes. till then, happy thoughts.

field trip or shots?

today my 5 year old went on her first field trip ever. her first ride in a school bus ever. and i was not with her :( . sniff i was at the doctor for the baby's checkup. they went to the skating rink. i drove by on my way from the doctor's and wondered if they would let me in. i doubted it, so i drove on. i felt horrible! no pics or anything. what a terrible mother i am. i still have pics from my oldest's first field trip from kindergarten. well, maybe she won't remember. and i will go next time for sure.
my baby had her check up today and got 3 shots total. she cried for half an hour! we had to stop at the store on the way home; she just wanted to go home and sleep. she was fine once she saw the yogurt melts in the cart. then we got home and she just wanted me to hold her, which was fine. it's what she's wanted all week so why should today be any different? between teeth poking through, allergies, and shots the dishes have not gotten done in two days. hmm, maybe i should be doing that now. nah, let me drink my tea and rest for a bit. ;)
the girls are all asleep, for now. long day for all of them. hopefully the baby sleeps well tonight. i'd like to get some sleep too. i wonder what it will be like when she does sleep through the night. she's 10 months old today and still waking up 3 times a night! when i try to give her the paci, she gets ticked off, screams, throws herself around . . . i know i should just walk away, but we share a room. so i get her out of her crib and . . . nurse her. yes i know, you don't have to tell me, but right now that's all she wants. i tell myself it's cause she's teething, but i'm afraid we are getting something started.
well, tomorrow starts a new weekend. no big plans here. just getting caught up on a lot of lovin' with my girls. have a few friends over sunday for some bbq. breathe a little before school starts again on monday. i am glad they both are loving school. makes those morning easy peasy lemon squeezy. (my 9 year old's new phrase) have a great weekend. maybe i'll pop in for a few words of enlightenment. maybe i won't.

what i learned this week is . . .

  • i have accumulated a lot of stuff this last year
  • a lot of that 'stuff' is junk
  • three shots at once is tough for a baby
  • love from my children is the best love of all
  • we do better with a minute by minute schedule
  • family is always there when you need them the most

how can they do this?

so madsen cycles is still having their weekly giveaway. and i want one so bad!! i usually wouldn't try this again, but i actually won something this week!! the fabric shopper had a giveaway. and i won! i have never won anything before. this is so exciting. i wonder what i'm getting!!!
so this madsen cycle giveaway, if i don't win, at least maybe i had a part in spreading the news about a great product. and if i do win . . . oh the places i will go. Madsen Cycles Cargo Bikes

what to do, what to do...

sometimes i wonder what my children think i am. how do i let my infant know that in order to take care of her, i need to, you know, eat? shower? sleep at night? i don't think that is too much to ask. i may be wrong.
i've been playing with my blog and adding backgrounds, changing backgrounds. trying to add a little color. i need to get some pics up. maybe. i've recently learned how to add a hyperlink to a blog. that is what the testing post was all about. i've been a little busy lately, but i haven't forgotten about you. just a little brain dead. you mom's know what i mean i'm sure.
so what do you do for you? and no, i'm not talking attaching the wee one to the breast for a few silent moments. when the little one's asleep, how do you spend your time for you? maybe i'll do a poll. hmm... something else to spend my time on. hahaha

what i learned this week is . . .

  • my kids feel safe and secure at home
  • i have more friends than i'd thought
  • the referigerator empties quickly
  • my children think clearer with no sugar
  • i lead a pretty boring life
  • i can go dayyyys with out washing my hair
  • . . . or shaving
  • my baby sister has fallen in love
  • wisteria grows at an alarming rate
  • the aquarium on the wii menu is nice background noise
  • we don't need the tv to survive
  • i need netflix to survive

i'm still here

i have actually started to blog a few times this week. and each time something has come up. not sure what exactly, but something else needed to be done. not too surprising with a baby in the house. and with the big girls in school, my day seems to be shorter. i leave the house about 2:30 everyday to go and sit for half an hour waiting for them to be let out. then home again to start the evening routine again. we've been working on sticking to a schedule. using our time wisely. ergo, no blog. no really, we've done well this week. the girls are working really hard to get the important things done on time so there is still time for play at the end of the day. it has taken us 3 evenings to watch a movie. but all their homework and spiritual study has been done.

it seems strange with the baby, here at home with mommy all day she wants me to sit and do nothing. when i get up to clean something or fix something to eat, she has other plans. i can literally sit on the floor doing nothing, and she is fine to roam and play. if i get up, it's all over. once the big girls are home from school, she could care less what i am doing. the girls are at the table doing school work, i'm in the the kitchen getting dinner started, and she is roaming and playing by herself. she just feels more secure with her whole family. makes me smile to know that i have created a safe place for my children.

so i have my first sunday paper from last sunday. yes, i am just now getting coupons clipped. pathetic i know. but i am getting my grocery list compiled and getting ready to go out this afternoon with all girls in tow and shop with my coupons. i've been reading some blogs about using coupons and am amazed how much these mothers are saving! i don't know if i will ever truly understand all the tricks, but i am going to try. every bit helps.

on fridays i go to the school and help with the girls classes. with one in kindergarten and one in fourth grade, it makes for a fun day. the kindergartners are so excited when they see me come into the room. i have been three fridays, and each time they ask the same question. "are you her mom?" they don't even know my daughter's name. it's so cute. on fridays the school has a frozen treat. popsicles. these kids get popsicle dye all over themselves. one girl last week had blue dripped all down her arm, her leg and her whole chin was blue. the teacher told her to go look in the mirror and her reply: 'i'm too little to look in the mirror'. we all chuckled.

when i go, the baby stays with my sister and her cousin. they are 4 weeks apart. and so cute following each other around. my sister enjoys it because she is actually able to get things done around the house. they occupy each other. maybe i need to keep him a couple times too. that's an idea.

hmm, well i need to run now. but i'm glad i got a chance to 'chat' with you this am. i will get back with you this evening and let you know what i learned this week. till then, TGIF

friday again?

is it friday again? oh my. where has the week gone? it has been a good week here. school was great. girls were great. went and helped with my daughter's teachers today. they enjoyed that. not too busy of a weekend planned. funny how having children teaches one to slow down a little. had plans to go to a friend's house this evening. she was going to walk me through the process of clipping, printing, and stacking coupons. then my 5 year old all of a sudden got sick! out of no where, sore throat and fever. i rocked her and she was out in 5 minutes flat. poor baby. that is what i hate about kindergarten. at least she has a 3 day weekend to mend.
i tried my hand at sewing last weekend. didn't get far. all i can do is laugh. i have all these ideas, but no idea how to use this great magnificent tool. sigh, i know. i need to stop being afraid of it. maybe i will try again tomorrow. we'll see. if anyone has any experience, and any ideas as to what could be a good starting project, let me know.

Here We Go!

ok, so now it is my turn. i have been reading and commenting and guest blogging for a short while now, and i've decided i'm ready. my name is fawn. i am a 31 year old single stay at home mom. well, stay at home now. i have been a stay at home mom for 3 years now, but having added the single part to it, i need to go out and get a job that pays money. real money. amigo money. i have 3 beautiful daughters ages 9, 5, and 9 months. now that the baby isn't nursing every 4 hours, i will be looking for work. my ultimate goal is to be a wahm, and that is what i will work tooth and nail to become. i found my mothers sewing machine and i have decided to learn how to use it. to sew my daughters some clothes, be able to mend, and hopefully, eventually be good enough to sell somethings. i figure people do it all the time, so why not me? i haven't actually ever sewn anything, but i love a good challenge. obviously, i'm a single stay at home mom with 3 kids. no, i digress. i love my children. they are why i smile.
i have a friend who is a seamstress and she has agreed to teach me a thing or two about sewing. i will have to make her something when i figure it out. so we got the sewing machine cleaned, oiled and plugged in. it was doing ok, for a little while. then it started to skip stitches. i don't know what to do to fix it! i did a little research on the world wide web, and learned that there could be a few different reasons for that to happen. hmmm....
in the mean time i have been downloading patterns i want to try as soon as it is fixed. i love the simple airy dresses for young girls, and can't wait to try one. if anyone knows of any links for simple free patterns, please pass them along! :)
well, it is late and the sun rises early. another school day tomorrow. my 9 year old has been working on a book report she has due friday. she is so excited. she's doing it on a nancy drew novel. making a collage of all the clues from the story. i can't wait to see it finished. for now it is good night.
