will it work?

i got on the sewing machine a little yesterday. just trying to figure out what the stitching will do. and it did fine! i tried with an old recieving blanket and just did a few seams. tried all the different stitches. pretty cool little gadget. so now i need to figure out how to make something out of nothing. :) this is going to be so much fun. and it's a rainy day. perfect day for staying in.

Here We Go!

ok, so now it is my turn. i have been reading and commenting and guest blogging for a short while now, and i've decided i'm ready. my name is fawn. i am a 31 year old single stay at home mom. well, stay at home now. i have been a stay at home mom for 3 years now, but having added the single part to it, i need to go out and get a job that pays money. real money. amigo money. i have 3 beautiful daughters ages 9, 5, and 9 months. now that the baby isn't nursing every 4 hours, i will be looking for work. my ultimate goal is to be a wahm, and that is what i will work tooth and nail to become. i found my mothers sewing machine and i have decided to learn how to use it. to sew my daughters some clothes, be able to mend, and hopefully, eventually be good enough to sell somethings. i figure people do it all the time, so why not me? i haven't actually ever sewn anything, but i love a good challenge. obviously, i'm a single stay at home mom with 3 kids. no, i digress. i love my children. they are why i smile.
i have a friend who is a seamstress and she has agreed to teach me a thing or two about sewing. i will have to make her something when i figure it out. so we got the sewing machine cleaned, oiled and plugged in. it was doing ok, for a little while. then it started to skip stitches. i don't know what to do to fix it! i did a little research on the world wide web, and learned that there could be a few different reasons for that to happen. hmmm....
in the mean time i have been downloading patterns i want to try as soon as it is fixed. i love the simple airy dresses for young girls, and can't wait to try one. if anyone knows of any links for simple free patterns, please pass them along! :)
well, it is late and the sun rises early. another school day tomorrow. my 9 year old has been working on a book report she has due friday. she is so excited. she's doing it on a nancy drew novel. making a collage of all the clues from the story. i can't wait to see it finished. for now it is good night.
